Chubut River nascents, or "Chubut Arriba"
(We apologize, this page is under construction)
Leaving toward the North of El Maitén
for the #40 National Rout, to twenty-five kilometers (15.5mi) of the urban
plant meets with a deviation that, for tortuous roads with multiple river
crossings, ideals to travel in 4x4 vehicles, it will take us in the first
place to an old mine (María Mine) dedicated in the past to the lead
extraction and gold, where we leave the vehicles to continue on foot or
by horse following the waters of the river.
Following the course of Chubut river
then through an astonishing landscape that conjugates stocky forest with
steppe, with canyons where the river is encased and places for where it
runs placidly, we approach to the original slope, the place where they
arise the waters that then will travel more than a thousand kilometers
to end in the Atlantic Ocean after crossing the Chubut province.
This place, also known as "Chubut arriba", it is to few kilometers
of San Carlos de Bariloche, separated
from this city for a wide and not very sharp mountainous cord.
