They have met in a portfolio poems and the local inhabitants' works, those that are presented in the Week of 
 the Arts and in the Cultural Sample of the Party of the Train, as likewise artists' of other towns works that 
 they take as inspiration source the landscapes, people and the lifestyle of The Maitén.

Skilled rope workers works the cow and pony leather. Reins, knots, halters, muzzles, whips and other country tackle arise of this meticulous task of our field men or those that, even settled down in the town, they maintain living this tradition. 

The "El Mensual" Gaucho Association carries out every year horse-riding festivals, like integral part of the provincial preliminary rounds that are carried out in the town of Sarmiento, of where the horseman that will represent to our Province in the National Festival of the Taming and Folklore in Jesús María (Córdoba)

In private form works a Group of Argentinean Folklorical Dances and another of Aerobics and Classic Dances, carrying out this last one every year a festival in which the excellent reached level is shown of year in year, fruit of a constant and responsible work. The Group of Argentinean Folklorical Dances collaborates with the different institutions participating of diverse beneficent events.

In several opportunities they were formed Groups of Theater, those that worked with a lot of enthusiasm, presenting very well in some opportunities works carried out that they were rewarded with the public's applause. The School #93 during some years was the example, carrying out works for its children and those of the local Center of Family Action. 

In 1997 was formed a new theater group that worked eagerly, having the support of the local Director of Culture, representing a work in the village and, for the first time, participating of the Provincial Encounter of Theater in the city of Esquel, maximum event in our province in this item of the Arts. Today their work continues, in search of constant superation.

They work in El Maitén diverse workshops like those of Crafts in Leather, English (initial, advanced and quick) and Fabric and Spun, subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and Education, through the Subsecretary of Culture of the province. 

The workshop of Ceramic works from 1997. An oven was acquired thanks to a grant of the Institute of provincial Social Attendance, covering the educational positions by means of the Center of Professional Formation in Lago Puelo, and being formed a nurtured group of ceramists that experience with the diverse clays of the region. 

A group of women that spin sheep wools and calf goat also exists. Some of them tint them, applying the ancestral techniques, with shells and roots of trees and bushes of the area. They carry out fabrics in the loom, to two needles and the crochet, as "matras", tapestries, strips, vests, stockings, etc.

We also export knowledge!! From 1999 and until the year 2003 it will be coordinated from the Branch El Maitén of the Evolución Foundation-Telar Network and for all Latin America the International Essays Project  "The Laws of Life", organized by I*EARN-International Education and Resources Network and financed by the John Templeton Foundation, for the one that young of between 9 and 20 years interact and they elaborate rehearsals or essays about the human values as the courage, the honesty or the respect

In the month of November of every year, he/she is carried out in El Maitén the Week of the Arts, in which paintings are exposed, literary works, photographs, crafts, patagonian books, exhibition to which sinks the performance of local groups of dance, popular singers and El Maitén Chorus Group. This Week it counts as antecedent the "Day of the Music in The Maitén" that was carried out in the same month, congregating choirs of Trevelin, Esquel and El Bolsón, taking place during ten serial years up to 1980. 

In the month of December, the day 22, it takes place the Anniversary of our town, it dates in the one that is carried out an exhibition of works of the municipal workshops, of paintings and crafts of the place. 

The second week of the month of February of every year is celebrated the "National Party of the Steam Train" and Provincial Party of the Train, being the 6th and 16th respectively the one that will be carried out from February 9 to 11 of the year 2001

Being the bigger than those that are organized in our Town, between 8.000 and 10.000 people becomes present in the days of more public affluence. For their scenario, national, provincial, regional and local artists of the most varied goods happen outdoors. 

Also in this occasion it is chosen the National Queen of the Steam Train, being presented candidates of the most varied points in our country willing to represent for one year to our Town. 

One of the main attractiveness of the Party is the Parade of coaches that year after year delights us with the ingenious one inventive of its makers, with clear messages, full of beauty and movement. 

Along the year they are carried out the Tables of the Memories, where historical data and anecdotes of the population's different sectors are rescued. 

Periodically from the Secretary of Culture they are carried out diverse campaigns about environment, with booklets and surveys in the local area.
